Patients who have Lyme disease might have an alternative to the ineffective antibiotic-based approach. Ozone therapy offers a more natural and effective way of alleviating the effects of the illness.
Lyme disease is a bacterial infection caused by the microbe Borrelia burgdorferi. It spreads to humans through the bites of blood-sucking tick species, such as the black-legged tick and the deer tick.
After getting bitten by an infected tick, patients may experience symptoms similar to those in influenza. Aching muscles, chills, fatigue, fever, nausea, painful joints, and sweating are all early symptoms of the ailment.
Lyme disease also leads to other serious health problems. Researchers linked amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), lupus, Parkinson’s disease, and rheumatoid arthritis to chronic cases of Lyme disease.
Public health officials report around 30,000 instances of Lyme disease each year. But the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) showed much higher annual numbers of 300,000.
Healthcare professions prescribe antibiotic treatment for treating Lyme’s disease. But conventional therapies and extensive use of pharmaceutical drugs fail to achieve real headway against chronic cases of the infection. (Related: Nutritionists use ozone gas to make tastier wheat flour.)
LifeWorks Wellness Center founder Dr. David Minkoff developed a drug-free method of treating Lyme disease. His approach restores and strengthens the immune system of a patient, allowing the natural defenses of the body to fight off the infection.
Instead of using pharmaceutical drugs, Minkoff employed alternative substances that bring health benefits to the body. His arsenal of “natural antibiotics” included hydrogen peroxide and ozone (O3).
Ozone is a gas molecule made up of three oxygen atoms arranged in a certain way. It gives its name to the ozone layer in the upper atmosphere that filters out excessive amounts of ultraviolet light. It is also present in lower altitudes, where excessive amounts of the gas are considered to be air pollutants.
In medical use, ozone is made from medical-grade oxygen using O3 generators. Patients receive precisely measured amounts of gas. Treatment based on medical ozone is called ozone therapy.
Ozone therapy can improve the symptoms of dental caries, lowers blood cholesterol, increases the responsiveness of antioxidants, and affects oxygenation in resting muscles. It also serves as an adjunct treatment for hypoxic and ischemic syndromes.
Of all the non-pharmaceutical-based means of treating chronic Lyme disease at Minkoff’s disposal, ozone therapy is considered “the best all-around treatment.” His comprehensive treatment program uses medical ozone to eliminate the symptoms of the illness.
Ozone therapy works by boosting the oxygen levels in the body. The higher availability of oxygen improves many body functions that contribute to fighting off Lyme disease.
First, it assists in the detoxification of the liver. The primary organ responsible for removing toxins from the body, the liver is affected by Lyme disease, and ozone therapy provides much-needed support.
Next, ozone therapy reduces uric acid levels in the body. Large amounts of uric acid in the joints cause inflammations, but ozone can alleviate this pain.
It also improves blood circulation. Improving the supply of oxygen and important nutrients to various organs increases their performance.
Furthermore, ozone therapy kills harmful microorganisms. The B. burgdorferi microbe responsible for Lyme’s disease is just as vulnerable to ozone as other bacteria, fungi, and viruses.
Ozone therapy increases the efficiency of cellular metabolism. Cells can then produce more energy that they can use for various cellular processes.
Last but not least, oxygen therapy enhances the immune system. Assisted by the antimicrobial effects of medical ozone, a strengthened immune response can fight off Lyme disease more effectively.
